At St. Patrick’s parish, Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs) assist clergy during Holy Communion by serving as ministers of the altar and are part of the altar party.  Serving God’s table in this way is a reminder that we are all called to the “Supper of the Lamb.” LEMs assist with the distribution of wine at communion (known as a chalice bearer). They may also assist the Priest in preparing the Table for the Eucharist and may hold the Gospel Book when a Priest or Deacon proclaims the Gospel.
