ST. PATRICK’S EPSICOPAL CHURCH
Lectors / Readers
The ministry of a Lector is helping the congregation hear the scriptures and have a meaningful, shared worship experience. Lectors play a special role in St. Patrick’s worship services, proclaiming the scripture Lessons (Old and New Testaments) and leading the Prayers of the People. The office of Lector, or reader, is among the oldest of liturgical lay ministries in the Episcopal tradition.
God’s Word comes alive when it’s spoken and heard in community. Lectors carry a sacred responsibility in proclaiming Scripture – to share the stories of faith in a unique and powerful way. Being a lector is not about your voice or a performance, it’s about sharing God’s Word with love and sincerity.
Are you interested in becoming a Lector? Please contact the Parish Office for more information. Not sure about public speaking? St. Patrick’s also offers training for Lectors as needed and on a periodic basis.
